Plot Outline:Chris Gardner has big dreams for him and his family but it doesn't seem to come together for him. Chris has an opportunity to be a stock broker but first he has to go through a grueling internship which means no pay. Chris decides to do it but when his wife leaves and he is evicted, he has to take care of his son on his own. So they find themselves sometimes living on the street and struggling to get by. But Chris is determined to make it.

In 1981, in San Francisco, the smart salesman and family man Chris Gardner invested the family savings in Ostelo National bone-density scanners, an apparatus twice more expensive than x-ray with practically the same resolution. The white elephant financially breaks the family, bringing troubles to the relationship with his wife that leaves him and moves to New York. Without money and wife, but totally committed with his son Christopher, Chris sees the chance to fight for a stockbroker internship position at Dean Witter, disputing for one career in the end of six months training period without any salary with other twenty candidates. Meanwhile, homeless, he has all sorts of difficulties with his son.

My personal opinion about his movie is that its a great movie.I was just close to tears when Chris comes out of the Cabin after making it for the job.Its worth a try.

Microsoft + Yahoo > Google?
For those of us who might have thought that Microsoft's acquisition of Yahoo was an ace in the hole, this blog post from a Google bigwig might give a pause.

Could Google be joining the likes of IBM, SUN, RealNetworks, Borland, Novell and Netscape who've lodged anti-trust complaints in various regulatory bodies around the world against Microsoft? Alright, no tears for Microsoft here. We all know this company is predatory and brutal when it wants to subjugate competitors. But can Google with a 75% share in their market (online search) really have a valid complaint here?

Apparently so, and I'm actually surprised that Google has even addressed this acquisition rather than giving its characteristic aloof response. With Google's market value markedly below its 52-week high and facing slowdown or saturation in some of its markets, I can understand why the giant is suddenly feeling worried about its prospects.

Can this acquisition finally give Microsoft the needed ammunition to meaningfully challenge Google? Only time will tell, but the fact that Google is feeling uneasy about it promises some interesting jousting and parrying ahead.

Whatever the case, I hope Google doesn't lose its grip and mire itself in a long battle with Microsoft. Instead it should just stick to its guns, do no evil, and continue to innovate around Microsoft. In the end Google may still get run over by the behemoth, but I really hope Microsoft doesn't win this match, with or without yahoo. It will be a dark day on the Internet if Microsoft strips Google of its status just by its monopolistic tactics.

Linux Guru Bashes Apple OS
Linus Torvalds, leader of the cult of Linux, took a swipe at Apple's OS X and Microsoft Vista in the same breath at a conference in Australia last week, adding more fuel to the simmering programming language battle between the world's high-profile geeks.
Speaking at the linux.conf.au conference in Melbourne, Australia, a few weeks ago, Torvalds called Leopard "utter crap" and bashed the proprietary OS makers for being greedy, according to Australian reporter Nick Miller in the The Age.

"I don't think they're equally flawed -- I think Leopard is a much better system," Torvalds said. "(But) OS X in some ways is actually worse than Windows to program for. Their file system is complete and utter crap, which is scary."

He also scoffed at his rivals' practice of revenue-through-renewal by launching upgrades that require new purchases.

"An operating system should be completely invisible," Torvalds said. "To Microsoft and Apple (it is) a way to control the whole environment -- to force people to upgrade their applications and hardware."

Torvalds swipes at Microsoft and Apple come on the heels of a highly publicized tiff between Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Sun Microsystems developer and "father of Java" James Gosling.

Earlier last year Jobs reportedly said that "Java's not worth building in. Nobody uses Java anymore. It's this big heavyweight ball and chain."

The ball was lobbied back at Jobs when in the fall Gosling abandoned his Mac laptop, writing on his blog that in addition to abandoning his "eye candy" Mac laptop for a real developer's machine, he thinks "iPods are nice, but they're not the defining center of my life."

Who will strike the next blow?

Our bet is on Bill Gates, as soon as he finishes re-installing Windows XP.

My boss Lance recently wrote a column about how Macs need security software too. In his column he pointed out that Mac users are no smarter than Windows users. I respect where Lance is coming from, we're all human and quite capable of making mistakes. However, I think he got it wrong. It's not necessarily just about the users, it's also about the companies and people who create the operating systems that we use each day.
Frankly, there's no other way to say this: Microsoft is stupid and Apple is not.

Security, Security, Security...
If you take a look at the history of OS design by each company, it's pretty clear why this is so. Microsoft has historically made an unreliable, ugly, and highly insecure operating system based on its own spaghetti/Swiss cheese code. This is no secret to anyone who has followed the industry or even used Windows on a daily basis. If you are a Windows users you MUST have spyware/virus/malware prevention software or, sooner or later, your machine is going to get nailed.

It isn't Microsoft bashing to say any of this, it's just the truth for Windows users each day of their computing lives.

Apple, on the other hand, decided long ago to ditch their old operating system and build one that was Unix based. Why did this matter? Well as people have begun to notice, thanks to its Unix roots, Mac OS X is a hell of a lot more stable and secure than any version of Windows ever released. Apple didn't make this choice by chance, they thought it through and knew exactly what they were doing and why.

Mac users simply don't live in the same inherently insecure and fearful universe that Microsoft, through its stupidity and bad programming, has inflicted on Windows users. The difference is night and day, and anyone who has ever switched from Windows over to Mac OS X (or Linux for that matter) knows how liberating it is once you realize that are free and safe from debilitating viruses, spyware, and malware that plague the Windows operating system.

Microsoft is stupid and will never get security right, Apple already has.

Plot Outline:
